ANOINTING OF THE SICK
Those who are seriously sick or who have been ill for a long period should receive the Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick and Holy Communion.
James 5:14 says: “Is anyone among you sick? He should summon the presbyters of the church, and they should pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord.”
Anointing of the Sick should be performed before death is imminent, when a person is conscious and able to receive comfort from the sacrament. Anointing may take place when a person first receives a serious diagnosis and repeated as an illness progresses. It is also appropriate to anoint the elderly to strengthen them as they experience the hardships that come with advancing years.
VISITATION OF THE SICK
Fr. Johnson is always willing to visit patients in the hospital, at extended care facilities and nursing homes, and after they have been released to home. If you become hospitalized, institutionalized or home-bound because of illness and would like communion brought to your home, please call the Rectory. (temporarily suspended in the yellow phase)
